Elevator News Show #290: ERS-2012-03-21 – Video & Audio

With the recent warmer temperatures in the Midwest I love it and finally have faith that spring is actually a season that can be experienced in Chicago. Fewer stories again this week which make it a nice compact show, however a couple that are worthy of sharing. Next week is Spring break for my kids and I’m headed for a short trip to Florida to see my parents. No show next week but I may have a post to share so check the website next week. It all depends on how much swimming and fun we’re having. Keep up the good work everyone each and every day and make sure you’re doing your part to make elevators and escalators safer.

The Elevator Radio Show: March 14th, 2012 Show #289

As we head into another awesome week of warmer weather here in the Midwest one has to wonder if another snow storm is lurking out there on the horizon, I certainly hope not.  There are some good articles on the show that are worthy of saving and sharing. One of which an escalator owner actually sues the contractor who was in charge of maintaining their piece of equipment. I’ve never seen this before publicly covered before. Also Elevator World is looking for presenters/call for papers for their Virtual Elevator Exhibit in July. Have a topic you’d like to cover? Submit your idea and perhaps you’ll secure a spot. Get a little inspired today!

Wow what seemed like a slow news week turned into one with some really important articles to share. Make sure you click, print and forward those to clients and coworkers you feel would benefit from reading them. Thank you so much for listening/watching the show today. I can’t tell you how much I’m amazed by all the support out there for what this show delivers each week.  It is extremely humbling to say the least. Enjoy the show, the articles and feel free to send your comments to elevatorradioshow@gmail.com. Remember to make safety the most important part of your day.

I forgot to add that for those of you who send me e-mails asking where I got my Got Lift Shirt as seen on today’s program, visit our online store and you can purchase one today. Remember that $5 of every sale goes directly back to the EESF. I make no money on the items what so ever. So support EESF.org and get some cool gear while doing so at the same time.

Editorial: “Here’s Who To Blame In The Elevator Accident That Killed A Y&R Exec”

My name is Dan Zeitz. I am the Operations Manager and Safety Director for Midwest Elevator is St. Louis, Missouri.

As New York recently learned (http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/27/city-blames-fatal-elevator-accident-on-poor-maintenance-work/?src=tp), jumper left behind accidents are a very dangerous, and potentially lethal, problem. I invented, patented and brought to market, a jumper which would prevent the very scenario which killed the Y&R Exec. This product has been available through Wurtec Industries for two years. I created this jumper to eliminate the unnecessary loss of life and serious injuries which occur through human error or negligence.

I thought you should be aware that a safety device existed which could have prevented this tragedy. Please, let’s prevent another injury/death.

If there is someone in your organization more appropriate, I would appreciate your forwarding this information.

Thank you,

Dan Zeitz
