It’s one of those weeks that I’m not sure if I’m coming or I’m going.  While the number of elevator and escalator news stories was fewer than normal the first two are pretty bad.  One involved another over the side escalator accident fall which occurred in Michigan. One witness noted that she jumped up on the handrail only to fall over the side.  Remember, escalator handrails are somewhat grippy and you should NEVER try to do this! She was lucky with her injury while others have died with these types of accidents.  Also going on today is the Chicago Elevator Association code update seminar which I’m assisting with. I’m looking forward to seeing many of you who listen to the show at the event today.  The ECNY is also having an action packed week as it holds its own vendor expo. For every one who’s out on the road, have safe travels on your way home.

Winter had arrived here in Chicago and with a pretty cold vengeance. It snowed over the weekend and my boys had a blast building a snow fort. They are working on making it a multi story and asked if I could bring some parts home so they could install an elevator in it. I’ll keep you posted on how they progress. Today is our anniversary show and over the weekend I pulled the download statistics since we first started this show back in 2005. All I can say is WOW and thanks for sharing this show with others. I never in a million years would have believed how much support and passion you’ve shown me and it keeps me going. As always I can’t thank you enough for being elevator advocates in what you do each day and for the comments and support you’ve shown me. You are part of my family and I will never forget that.

Terrible accident on the show today involving an elevator mechanic, make sure you are working safe out there! And remember the EESF, another child was seriously injured after an escalator accident.

Had a great time at the convention last week and have to hand it to the team at the NAEC for putting on another great convention. I loved Cincinnati and it had so much to share; old buildings, architecture, a rolling landscape, friendly residents and inexpensive parking. But what makes any conference a success are the people who attend it. I can’t tell you how great it was to see all of you who stopped by our booth and those who I ran into on the convention floor, in the hotel lobby and during meetings. For those of you who couldn’t make the event you missed a good one. On the show today I’ll recap last weeks show to the best of my ability and we’ll get caught up on the news from last week. Plus we’ll be giving away a $100 Gift Card from Visa and goodies from the companies listed below.

Special thanks to the companies who have donated goodies to the prize pack giveaway!

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. My three boys headed back to school yesterday and it just felt like the past three months just flew by. I’m looking forward to a three day weekend and hope that if you’re traveling for your last summer adventure that you have a safe trip. September is the month that most of the local elevator industry’s association meetings start back up again. If you’re lucky enough to have one in your area I encourage you all to attend and support them as there’s always a lot of great information that’s shared. It’s also a great opportunity to find out what’s going on locally in your area. I’ll talk about the calendar of events across the US on the show today and share the articles I found online.

EIG SC Calendar
