I keep saying the day there’s no shock or bad news regarding vertical transportation equipment is the day I look forward because it means we’re all doing our jobs and people are acting like idiots. Next week I should be up with my family in the Northwoods of Wisconsin enjoying a short vacation with them. I’m not sure what day I’m planning on leaving yet so there may or may not be a show. If news content is down and I leave on Wednesday I’ll most likely pass on it. We’ll see. Remember, summer is cruising along at speed of 600 mph and at an altitude of 30,000 feet so enjoy it before it’s gone.

My family and I had a great time on vacation. I really did need it. Actually I could have used another week off.  A good indicator that a vacation is good is when you can’t remember what day it is or what time it is when you’re on it.  Back to reality this week as we’ve got our end of the month prize pack giveaway to find a home for and a stack of articles to go through. Back from a great time at the Elevator U conference at Purdue University all I can say is those guys and gals know how to have a great time. It was great to see everyone at the event and I’d like to thank those who support EU as well as the EESF. The conference was filled with three days of education, a silent auction, vendor show and some great networking opportunities. I’ll give a better recap on the show today. Lots to talk about on the program everyone, I’ve got two weeks worth of news stories to get through and I’ll do my best to get through it as quickly as possible.  Another busy week at work as our shop has the flu bug going around which means double duty for a few of us here so remember to wash your hand's everyone and as often as possible. I’m pretty sure that I’m catching it as well as I’m tired and feel the onslaught of being tired and having a sore throat. Another week filled with article's everyone. You’ll enjoy the one written by Jim Collet, from Elevator Man Stories. I think it’s important to remember those who we worked with who may have passed on. Jim does an excellent job at doing this.  Also on the program today a story covering what I believe to be the worst elevator mine accident I've every read about, in which 26 miners in China where killed.  All I can say I'm glad that I live in the USA where codes and regulations are there to protect workers and the general public. (Pictured: Forty-one Cooper Square, in NY,  is being developed so that the elevator only stops at floors 1, 5 and 8. With the intent to make students use the stairs more often. I suspect a lawsuit addressing ADA will soon be in the news.)
